Tell the party leaders that Britain Needs A Payrise

Working people in the UK are seeing their living standards squeezed harder and harder every year. The cost of energy, transport and housing is soaring but wages aren’t keeping up. Real wages (adjusted for changing prices) are £2,000 lower than in 2010. Top pay keeps on rising, yet those on middle or low incomes see their pay packets continually eroded.
While new jobs may be returning to the economy they’re increasingly low paid jobs, with low hours and low security. In-work poverty is growing, with more working people turning to food banks or payday lenders.
Britain needs a pay rise and why we are calling on party leaders to make fair pay a priority in their manifestos. It is essential that ordinary workers benefit from economic growth not just the wealthiest in our society. We need an economy that can create good jobs with good wages for everyone.
Please help join our call for fairer pay. We’ll deliver this petition to each of the three main party leaders.
Petition to David Cameron, Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg:As a voter, I’m angry that ordinary people are not sharing in the proceeds of economic growth, and millions of low-paid workers are becoming trapped in an unbreakable cycle of poverty. Please commit to making fair pay for everyone a central part of your manifesto for 2015. We need measures like a strengthened minimum wage. properly enforced, more employers paying the Living Wage, and Modern Wages Councils for industries that can pay more. We need to see the end of the pay freeze for public servants, and action on soaraway top pay, such as putting worker reps on remuneration boards. |
